Poem: 'Scars' by John J. May

Scars
I flee from
the race
against my face
for I know
things I sow
damage my skin
and other things within
a mirror has spoken
confidence broken
it’s then I rage
at damaging age
two eyes stare
at what will not repair
a beating heart knows
from a mind flows
our fleeting youth
captured wild truth
days of wine and roses
yes gone, now reposes
memories I treasure
as LIFE is my pleasure
