You cannot truly put into words what the effects have been sitting in prison does to you. To be taken away from Shannon [wife] and our life is as close to as unbearable as it gets. Over the last 3 years I have gone from numb with shock, to anger and despair. Then finding out everything that was hidden from me and the jury by my own legal aid is beyond belief. I do not deserve a single day of this, yet I still sit here after 3 years for a crime that never took place.
[The] CCRC knows what was kept from me at the trial and yet I still wait for their decision. They have had my case for 16 months. Imagining what I might have done in my life during these last 3 years is too painful to think about.
I've missed the births of my grandchildren who I have not even seen yet. My father and father in law died leaving me unable to support my children and Shannon during these sad and devasting times.
I feel like I have little hope the justice system that has betrayed me, my wife, and children and all we love dearly don't seem to be in a hurry to right this wrong.
Just another innocent man left to rot because they can.
